A simple loaf, perfect toasted with a generous amount of salted butter!
Ingredients
320g bread flour
1tsp salt
1tsp fast-action yeast
25g butter, softened
1 heaped tbsp harissa pasta
200ml water
Method
– Preheat the oven to 220°C / 200°C with a fan.
– In a large bowl, add the bread flour, salt, fast-action yeast, and butter. Mix well.
– Add the harissa paste and mix. Then, add the water a little at a time, mixing with your hands until it forms a soft dough.
– Add to an electric mixer and knead for 6-8 minutes until it forms a stretchy dough.
– Transfer the dough to a large greased bowl. Cover and leave it to prove for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
– Grease a loaf tin with some butter.
– Take the dough out of the bowl and gently knead it to remove any air bubbles. Then, place it in the loaf tin.
– Cover the loaf tin with some greased cling film and leave to prove for another hour.
– Place in the oven and cook for 30 minutes.
– Immediately remove it from the tin and place it on a cooling rack. Use a kitchen towel to lightly coat the crust of the bread with some butter.
If you can, leave it to rest and cool overnight to enjoy the next day!
