This simple and easy to make Cauliflower dish is crispy, spicy and super delicious. And it is also vegan so I hope you will enjoy it!
Florets from a medium cauliflower, cut into bitesize pieces
½ tsp salt
50g plain flour
2 tbsp cornflour
2 tbsp rice flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp chilli powder to taste
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp garlic granules
½ tsp paprika
2 small red onions, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 red chilli, finely chopped
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp soy sauce
Add salt and florets to a pan of boiling water for 5 minutes (the hob turned off).
Drain the pan.
In a separate bowl, mix together the flours, salt and chilli powder, turmeric, garlic granules and paprika.
Add most of the water and whisk into the mix until smooth and thick.
Add some oil to a pan and heat.
Add the cauliflower to the batter mix and coat thoroughly.
Add to the hot oil and fry on high heat until golden and crispy.
While this is frying, add oil and onions and fry gently for 6-8 minutes until golden.
Remove the cauliflower from the pan once cooked and drain on kitchen towel.
Add the garlic to the onions.
Turn heat to low and stir fry with the chilli, ketchup and soy sauce until softened.
Add the cauliflower to the mix and stir to coat in the sauce.
Serve as canapés or a snack with a cup of tea or coffee.
