‘The Cardamom Trail’ my first recipe book is out now! Published by Octopus publishing group, it will be available in the UK, US and Canada. I was very lucky to have such amazing people to work with from the editor to the design team, the photographer to the stylist. I had a clear vision of this book from the start whether it was the recipes, the colours or the style of the book. It has been a lot of hard work, which will hopefully be appreciated by all.
The book has about 100 recipes, some sweet some savoury. I started work on it last year and it took me 6 months to come up with all the recipes. The idea was to take some traditional British bakes and add an Indian twist to it. All the recipes have a special connection with me, whether it was my childhood memories or my favourite things which my mum makes or special recipes from an aunt or neighbour. Throughout the book you will find little notes which will give you a little glimpse of why I chose that recipe.
The book is packed with recipes of delicious cakes, pies, tarts, breads, flatbreads, little savoury snacks, sweet snacks and best of all a little section of accompaniments. There is something for everyone to try. In addition to the recipes there are also some tips on spices, where I talk about the use of those spices, how to pair them and make the most of it in recipes. So hopefully you will find that helpful.
It has had a great response from the people who have bought it and tried some recipes. Here is a link to some really lovely reviews that the book has received. Next week I will share some press reviews too. The Cardamom Trail is Number 1 Best-seller in 3 categories on Amazon!
The book was launched in the UK on 21st April and I was lucky that some of my friends were able to join me on this special day. I was really nervous and excited at the same time. A lot of my time that day was spent in preparing treats from the book for my friends. Here is a little glimpse of the evening which was shot by the amazing Modus film. The pictures have been taken by the super talented Keith James.
I am also sharing some special pictures from the evening here.
You can get your own copy of The Cardamon Trail here. I hope you will enjoy the book and look forward to hearing about your bakes. Enjoy!
Waiting patiently (sort of) here in the US. I have had it pre ordered for months! Husband and I drooled over your creative fusion of Indian flavors with traditional baking on Great British Baking Show. Especially the savories. Congratulations!
