Delight your taste buds with this absolutely delicious Gobhi (cauliflower) Manchurian recipe – irresistibly crispy and amazing. It’s not just a culinary delight but also easy and quick to prepare. Enjoy it paired with rice or noodles, or savour its goodness all on its own!
Serves 4 people.
Ingredients
oil of choice
1 medium cauliflower, chopped into small florets
3 garlic cloves, grated
1″ fresh ginger, grated
2 green chilli, roughly chopped
1 red onion, finely chopped
6 spring onions, roughly chopped
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp chilli sauce
1 tbsp ketchup
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp ground black pepper
For the Batter
80g plain flour
40g cornflour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
Method
– Place all the ingredient for the batter in a large bowl. Mix well.
– Slowly add 300ml water while you continue to whisk. Stop when you form a pancake-like batter.
– Add the cauliflower and mix well.
– Heat 1 cup oil in a deep frying pan. Once hot, carefully drop the cauliflower into the oil. Cook until golden and stir continuously.
– Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cauliflower onto a kitchen roll-line plate to remove any excess oil.
– Add 1½ tbsp oil to a hot pan. Add the garlic, ginger, and green chilli. Cook for 1 minute.
– Add the red onion and cook on high heat for 2 minutes.
– Add the whites of the spring onions. Mix and cook for 2 minutes.
– Add the soy sauce, chilli sauce, ketchup, salt and pepper. Mix well.
– Add 150ml of water and bring to a boil. Add the cauliflower and mix well.
Plate it up and garnish with the greens of the spring onions.
