Make these mini Christmas trees with layers of puff pastry and Nutella for a simple yet charming treat during the festive season.
Ingredients
1 sheet ready-to-roll puff pastry
flour to sprinkle
3 sizes of star-shaped cookie cutters
Nutella, warmed in the microwave for 20 seconds
1 egg, whisked
icing sugar, to decorate
Method
– Preheat the oven to 190°C / 170°C with a fan.
– Sprinkle some flour onto your worktop. Gently roll one of the pastry sheets out.
– Use your cookie cutters to cut as many star shapes out as possible. Make sure there are an even number of each size.
– Place them on a lined baking tray and brush them with some whisked egg. Bake them in the oven for 20-22 minutes. Keep a close eye on them.
– Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.
– Place the largest stars on a serving plate. Add a dollop of Nutella and place the medium-sized star on top. Repeat the process with the smallest star.
– Dust in icing sugar to decorate.
