I’m going to teach you how to make KFC style popcorn chicken from the comfort of your own home.
2 chicken thighs, chopped into bitesize pieces
½ tsp garlic salt
2 tsp chilli paste
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp cornflour
oil of choice
For the Coating
80g plain flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp chilli powder
– Place the chicken, garlic salt, chilli paste, dark soy sauce, egg, and cornflour in a bowl. Mix well, cover, and let it rest for up to 1 hour.
– Place all of the ingredients for the coating in a bowl and mix well.
– Take one chicken piece at a time and drop it into the flour mix, thoroughly coat it, and place it on a plate. Repeat the process with the rest of the chicken pieces.
– Heat 2 cups of oil in a large, deep pan. Add the chicken pieces to the hot oil and cook for 7-8 minutes until golden. Place them on a kitchen roll lined plate to remove any excess oil.
I like to enjoy mine with some mayo and sweet chilli sauce.
