An interesting and flavourful take on the classic falafel – A must-try!
Serves 4-6
Ingredients
250g chickpeas, soaked overnight
1 brown onion, roughly chopped
2 garlic cloves
a handful of fresh coriander leaves
2 green chillies
1 green mango, peeled and roughly chopped
3 large cauliflower florets, roughly chopped
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cardamom powder
3 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp chaat masala
5 tbsp gram flour
oil of your choice
Method
– Add the chickpeas, onion, coriander leaves, green chillies, green mango, and cauliflower. Roughly blitz into a coarse powder.
– Transfer to a large bowl. Add the salt, ground cardamom, ground cumin, chaat masala, and gram flour. Mix well with your hands.
– Heat 2 cups of oil in a deep pan. Take a small lime-sized portion of mixture and shape it into a ball. Repeat this with the rest of the mixture.
– Place several balls into the oil and cook on all sides until golden brown. Once cooked, transfer them to some kitchen roll to remove any excess oil. Repeat this process with the rest of the balls.
