Homemade Sev

This is a traditional Diwali treat. So simple and ready in minutes – you just need a manual noodle press or sev maker.

Ingredients
150g gram flour
¼ tsp chilli powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
¼ tsp salt
2 tsp sunflower oil

Method
– Mix the gram flour, chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, and sunflower oil in a large bowl. Mix in a little bit of water at a time until it forms a soft and sticky dough.

– Line the noodle press with some oil so that the dough doesn’t stick.

– Add the dough to the noodle press.

– Add plenty of oil to a large hot pan. Once it is hot, press the sev through the noodle press into the pan in a swirling motion. Cook for 1-2 minutes, turn, and cook on the other side.

– Once cooked, remove them from the pan and place them onto some kitchen roll to remove any excess oil.

Break them up onto a bowl or plate and enjoy!
