Garlic Moong Dal

This is a gorgeous easy dal recipe that is ready in 30 minutes from the cooking to serving. Serve this with some rice and carrot sabzi.
Serves 4 people.

Ingredients
200g moong dal
1 tsp salt
1 tsp turmeric powder
3 large garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 brown onion, roughly chopped
ghee/oil of choice
1 tsp cumin seeds
handful fresh coriander, roughly chopped
1 tsp chilli powder

Method
– Place the dal in a pan with 800ml of water, turmeric powder, and salt. Bring it to a boil, turn it to a medium heat, and cook for 15 minutes.

– Add 200ml boiling water and cook for another 5 minutes.

– Add 2-3 tbsp oil to a hot pan. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle. Add the onions and cook for 5 minutes.

– Add the garlic and cook for 3 minutes or until golden.

– Add the coriander and chilli powder. Mix well and turn off the heat.

– Transfer the dal to a serving bowl. Top with the onions and serve with the some piping hot basmati rice and carrot sabzi.
