Simple naan bread flavoured with fresh green chillies and coriander leaves and a sprinkling of nigella seeds. Perfect accompaniment for any curry.
For the naan
- 300 gms plain flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 3 tsp vegetable oil
- 130-140 ml milk
- butter for brushing
For the topping
- finely chopped fresh coriander
- finely chopped green chillies
- handful nigella seeds
Combine the flour, salt, baking powder and oil in a large mixing bowl. Slowly add the milk to this mix till it forms a smooth soft dough. You might not need all the milk. Knead this dough for around 10 minutes. Put it in an oiled bowl, cover it with cling film and leave it to rest for about an hour.
When you are ready to eat divide the dough roughly into 6 to 7 balls. Preheat the grill to its highest setting.
Roll out the dough into any shape you like, round or oval shape, then gently prick all over with a fork. Now sprinkle some seeds, coriander leaves and chillies and press it into the dough. Or just use the rolling pin and roll over it again.
Now place the naan on a slightly floured baking sheet and grill it for 1-2 minutes or till its done. You might want to turn it over and grill the other side for less than 1 minute.
Once ready brush with melted butter and serve hot.
Is that 1/2 a teaspoon or tablespoon of salt in the ingredients list? It only says
“1/2 Salt”
It would just be teaspoon. Cant imagine tablespoon. I make these too 🙂
Your Youtube video showed adding yogurt. Is this the same recipe?
