This is a very easy, quick caramel sauce to make at home, perfect for cakes, cupcakes, cookies, ice-cream, cheesecakes! The possibilities of using this gorgeous caramel sauce are endless.
To make salted caramel, add 1 tsp salt to the sauce when adding cream. Enjoy!
Ingredients
200g granulated sugar
2 tbsp water
90g unsalted butter
120ml double cream
Method
– Place the sugar and water in a pan. Bring it to a simmer on medium heat. Cook until it becomes golden brown.
– Lower the heat and add the butter. Stir to combine. If it starts to separate just continue to stir.
– Add the cream and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute.
– Allow it to cool completely before you transfer it to an airtight container. It can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 weeks.
Absolutely delicious! And easy to make (so long as you don’t crystallize the sugar!).
